How should I interpret the video content for the Development Economics course?

Are course certifications available in hard copy?

Yes! If you pass the final exam of a course you will earn the certificate on your MRUniversity profile. Go to your profile and you will see a "print certificate" link.

How do I turn on captions?

Step 1: Left click on the closed caption button "CC" located on the bottom right hand corner of the video player.
Step 2: Left click on one of the offered languages or "Turn Captions Off" to disable captions.

I just registered but I'm having problems logging in

If you have registered, but have not received an email with an activation link for your account, here are the steps to troubleshoot:

Step 1 - Check your spam folder. Sometimes our emails end up in the spam folder, rather than going to your inbox. If you find it there, most email services have a button or link to mark the message as "not spam". That should help ensure future messages go into your inbox. Additionally, if you add our email address, support |at| mruniversity |dot| com, to your address book, that should help ensure future delivery.

Step 2 - If you cannot find an email in the spam folder, then you can take the following step to receive a new activation email. Prior to doing this you might want to add our email address (see step 1) to your address book to ensure delivery. Click the "Log In" button on the upper right of our page. Click the "Request new password" tab. Enter the email address you used for your registration and click "E-mail new password". Check your email.

Step 3 - If neither step 1 or step 2 works, email us at support@mruniversity.com.

Once you receive an email with an activation link, click the link or copy and paste it into a browser. Our site will tell you that your email address has been verified and you can setup your password. Click "Log In". You will go to your profile page. Enter in a password and confirm the password. Scroll down and hit the "Save" button. Voila! Your account is setup and ready to go!

Can I speed up or slow down videos?

Yes, but you have to be using the HTML5 version of YouTube's video player. You can check if you are using it by going to YouTube's HTML5 video page. If you are using it you will see options to speed up or slow down the video by clicking the gear on the bottom right-hand corner of the YouTube video player.

How can I change the video resolution?

In order to make our material as widely available as possible the videos default to low resolution, 360p, but if you have good bandwidth we recommend bumping them up to 480p which will sharpen video and audio quality. On most platforms (not all) you can increase resolution by clicking near the bottom right of the video and then clicking the settings button

Why should I register?

Anyone can watch the videos without registering. Registering, however, will allow you to post questions, answers and comments and to upload new content. We also appreciate it when you register because by answering a few basic questions we can get an idea of who our audience is and how we should design future courses.

Do I need a textbook?

The short answer is no. While some of our videos complement Modern Principles of Microeconomics and Modern Principles of Macroeconomics well, they can be used with any textbook or no textbook at all!
