Economics is much more than just numbers and graphs. In fact, we can use economics to explain much of what we encounter in our daily lives. For instance, why is customer service at your local restaurant usually better than that of the cable company? To find the answer we can take a closer look at the incentives at play. For another example, we look to eighteenth century Great Britain. What did bad incentives have to do with the death rate of prisoners shipped from England to Australia? Dear Tyler Cowen and Alex Tabarrok,
Thank you for creating such a great educational website. I am thinking of applying to Master of Arts in Economic Policy in Global Markets, with a hope of transferring into Master of Arts in Economics. However, my knowledge of math is very little and my quantitative skills are poor. Nevertheless, with determination and hard work, it seems I can handle the course program. But, I am not certain if I should apply. Therefore, could you give me any advise on this issue? In your opinion should I take the risk? Do you think because of my bad math skills it likely that I will fail?
Thank you a lot for your help in advance.
